South of England Inter-Counties

Croydon - 10th December 2011

Essex Cross Country runners were in top form at the SEAA Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Lloyd Park, Croydon on Saturday.
The U13 Girls got the programme underway with Khai Mhlanga having a great run to finish lst with good team packing from Niamh Smith 8th, Jodie Judd 12th Isobella Hoy 15th Keira Tippet 16th, Rosie Poole 24th, Jemina Walker 31st and Rachel Broome 39th. The team finished an excellent 2nd. to take Silver.

Essex U15 Girls were in terrific form winning the team Gold – Georgia Tuckfield was back to her best finishing 2nd with Gemma Holloway making her debut style a fine 3rd, good support came from Lydia Hallam 14th, Katy Solis 15th, Amelia Barrett 17th, Millie Smith 19th, Maisie Jones 24th and Emma Jarvis 38th.

The U17 Women’s race there was a convincing win for the in-form Jessica Judd there was good support from Sophie Riches 7th, Kim Johanson 10th, Jade Peel 22nd, Bella Woods 24th, Eleanor Johnson 42nd and Emily Bullis 49th. The team finished 2nd to win Silver. In the U20 women the Essex team finished 5th with a good run from Gemma Philips 10th, Sophie Johnson 18th, Amy Webb 21st, and Emily Ballard 29th.

In the Senior Women the team won Bronze – Alexa Joel clicked into top form to come 2nd followed by fine runs from Ann Whitfield 11th, Georgie Sales 13th, Claire Thurgood 22nd, Karen Goode 23rd, Vicky Smith 28th and 

Carys Sutton 37th.

Essex Red Vests were the U13 Girls looking happy after their Bronze Medal win.

The Essex U15 Girls who had a terrific team victory in their section.

 

The Essex Boys also made their mark, the U13’s saw a brilliant run from Caanan Solomon who won the individual race followed by Max Jones 9th, Daniel Richards 10th, Brandon Thorpe 16th, Max Williams 17th, Jody Meredith 18th, Benjamin Haines 27th and Mason Webb 37th. The team won Silver Medals.

Essex U15 Boys came an impressive 3rd, they were led home by George Elliot 9th, Perry Rowan 14th, Jordan Rowe 16th , Lawrence Willmore 21st., Adam Houchell 25th, James Nadin 28th and Adam Jordan 40th.

The U17 Men Stephen Woodford brought the Red Vests home in 14th place with excellent runs from Joe Alexander 26th, Samuel Robinson 31st, Jens Vandenbrade 47th, Oliver Kyriakides 51st, Benjamin Franklin 53rd and James Hall 62nd.

Once again all the athletes did the County proud with Essex taking the best aggregate score of the day against 12 other Counties, Team Managers John Hyland and Keith Bottjer would like to thank all the athletes, parents and Coaches for their support for helping making it a great day for the County.
